(2) The Roosevelt and Steamboat girls battle over tenths of seconds
The Division 3 girls put on the closest team contest of the day as the gap between first and fourth was a mere 10 points.
Keely Jones of Valor came across the line first in 18:50.9, but it was the Madi Kenyon of Roosevelt and Winter Boese of Steamboat in fourth and fifth that set the stage for the rest of the team battle. Kenyon finished just 0.6 ahead of Boese.
Steamboat would manage to get five runners in before Roosevelt with Isabelle Boniface and Kandice Littinger placing 32-33, but Roosevelt's Emily Severin would take 34th just 0.1 behind the two. In the end Roosevelt scored 82 to Steamboat's 85.
In the boys race Junior Thomas Chaston was the lone runner under 16 minutes with a 15:56.8, and despite a second and fifth finishes from Evergreen's Brandon Swenson and Weston Donati-Leach, Cheyenne Mountain placed 1-10-11-16-26 to top Evergreen 64 to 85.
