Meet Information

Location at Kelly Walsh High School 8 A.M. - 5 P.M.

Field Events Begin - 8:00 A.M.

Running Events Begin - 10:00 A.M.

Four Individual Events per Participant Limit

Host School: Centennial Middle School and Casper Classical Academy

All middle schools bring tape measures and field event equipment/implements, (discus, shot put, pole vault poles etc).

The coaches' meeting on 5-9-25 is at 7:15 am behind the KWHS pressbox

Coaches pick up field event participant sheets, clipboards, and pencils

Submit Scratches

No add ins are allowed for any event. Please make sure events are full in milesplit

Relay Zone Assignments (CMS @ exchange zone 1, DM @ exchange zone 2, CY @ exchange zone 3)

Cut-line Assignment (CCA for 1600m, CCA for 800m)

Help with hurdle setup, teardown, raising or lowering of hurdle heights, and help keep the finish line clear of participants/spectators (all schools present)

Field Events

Horizontal Jumps (Long/Triple):

Ideal # of workers - 5 (Official, marker, tape reader, two rakers)

Pits are opened by the official running the event

Jumps are measured to the nearest inch

Fouls/scratches are not marked

No courtesy marks

Ties are broken by the second-longest jump by each competitor

Vertical Jumps (High/Pole Vault)

Ideal # of workers - 5 (Official, two people moving standards, two people resetting the bar

Pits are only open during the competition

No practicing

High jump goes up by 2 inches per successful attempt

Starting heights

Girls - 36

Boys - 44

Pole Vault goes up by 6 inches per successful attempt

Starting heights

Girls 46

Boys 50

Throws (Shot Put and Discus)

Ideal # of workers - 4 (Official, two markers, tape reader)

Areas are only open during the competition

No practice

Shot put marks are measured to the nearest inch

Discus marks are measured to the nearest inch

Track Events

Hurdles

Hurdles are placed on the corresponding color marks on the track

They are lined up with the ends matching

Athletes cannot touch the hurdle with their hands

Athletes cannot intentionally knock down hurdles (3 in a row is a DQ)

Athletes cannot run out of their lane on three consecutive steps

Contacting hurdles is legal, but contacting a hurdle that results in interfering with another competitor is a DQ

Hurdle heights are as follows:

Relays

Competitors must pass/receive the baton within the exchange zone

The baton is the point of reference

4x100m relay is run in one lane by the team

4x400m relay is run as a three-turn stagger

First runner runs lap in their lane

Second runner cuts toward lane one after completing the first 100m and advancing past the cut line

Runners can drop the baton and still complete the race as long as the following occur:

There is no interference with another team

The baton is picked up by the athlete that dropped the baton and passed

The team does not advance in the race (baton returns to track at drop point)
