The No. 1 ranked runner in the nation was 26th at Nike Cross Nationals last fall in her first-ever season of running. Oakley improved throughout the track season to sweep Colorado 5A state titles in the 1600m and 3200m, plus set a PR of 10:08.99 for two miles with her third place finish at Brooks PR. This cross country season has seen her solidify her spot on the throne by staying undefeated and setting meet records of 16:44 at Liberty Bell and 15:53.6 at the Woodbridge Sweepstakes.
Air Academy graduate Katie Rainsberger won NXN last year in a new course record of 16:56. Oakley will likely have her eye both on keeping the title in Colorado and setting a new standard.
