Eric Allen made the trip south chasing after a fast 60m time in Georgia. He was able to get in the final with Okheme Moore and the two athletes were pushed each other to the fastest times of the season.

Austin Fn Kratz! There were a lot of impressive doubles/triples this weekend, but Kratz solidified his as one of the best. He ran 6.78 solo in the 60m, which ties him for US #2 with Eric Allen. Kratz then returned for the 200m where he flew to a 21.04. He's now the fastest indoor PA 200m sprinter ever, and 8th in high school history.

Long week of racing for the East Orange crew. Lindo raced through sectionals where he competed in the 55m, 55H, and 400m. The team also made the trip up to Boston to run the SMR at NB Grand Prix where they finished second, a few seconds off their season best. They got beaten by a solid team from Newton North, in part thanks to a strong anchor leg from Theo Burba. But the squad wasn't at 100%. Coach Wigfall was using it as prep for nationals. The team drove overnight after winning sectionals to compete in the SMR. Expect more fast times out of this squad with Group Champs approaching this weekend in NJ.

It's turning into quite the year for PA. Kyle Garland's got a legit challenge for the most versatile athlete in the state/country. For those of you who have been following the MileSplit50 since the beginning, you'd remember that Owens started week one at 13th. He only dropped because of how long it took to get his season started. He has since quickly shot up the national rankings. He lowered his US #2 60H PR at Spire and is now less than .1s away from taking the top time from Eric Edwards. Owens also ran a 21.35 200m PR behind Austin Kratz, which moves him ahead of Tyrese Cooper in that event. Owens has the edge on the track, and Garland in the field events...going to make the pent real interesting at nationals.

For those of you who stayed up late on Saturday night to watch GSW Indoor live on MileSplit, you got to witness some of the nation's top sprinters put on a show. Over the course of a few hours in the condensed GSW schedule, Cooper ran 6.83, 21.38, and 47.55.

Okheme Moore got off to a strong start in December and hasn't missed a beat all season. He keeps dropping time and was able to beat Eric Allen in the 60m over the weekend while also taking over the national lead. I spoke to him after the race and he still hasn't picked which double he'll go after at nationals. He plans to chase a fast 200m at Kentucky this weekend(live on MileSplit) and will make his decision after.

Kyle Garland finished runner up in the hurdles to Tre'Bien Gilbert in Atlanta. Overall not a bad day, still improved slightly on his season best. He's just starting to get dropped in the MileSplit50 because athletes across the country are beginning to displace him in his events. Going to be some big matchups in the next couple weeks between him and Owens.

After a fourth place finish in the mile at Millrose, Hengst bounced back with the perfect race execution at NB Grand Prix. He let others set the pace and turned on the afterburners to torch the rest of the field on the final lap.

Going to get a bit lazy here ;)...see the previous comment for Akeem Lindo.

Flournoy made the trip out of state to compete against some talented southern sprinters in Atlanta. Unfortunately, we didn't get the matchup I was hoping for in the 200m final. In the prelims, Flournoy ran 22.03 and Elija Godwin made his first appearance indoors with a 21.86. Godwin did not start the final. Even without anyone in the race to push him, Flournoy still ran 21.66.
22
Eric Edwards did not have a good race in the 60H prelims in Atlanta. He looked off his rhythm and failed to qualify for the final.

Mario Heslop continues his rise up the MileSplit50. He shocked the country in the 300m in January and ran .01s off the national lead in the 55m at sectionals this weekend.

I'll admit this was a big miss on my part overlooking his mile in the pro field at Camel City. I should've moved Cameron Ponder into the MileSplit50 last week. Appreciate all the emails rightfully calling me out on it! This week he makes his debut in the rankings at 27. Over the weekend he won the 1000m and 1600m relatively easily in his division of the NC state meet.
28
Fast times brought Devin Hart into the MileSplit50, consistency moves him up.
29
The Olympics have begun and Canada handed the U.S. an "L" over the weekend...in Ohio. Marcus Kemp dropped the field early and soloed away to win the Spire 3200m in 9:02. Chad Johnson led the U.S. contingent behind, closing hard to go under 9:10 for the fastest 3200m (and converted two mile) of the season.
30
Zach Kreft also crossed the line at Spire under 9:10, just over a second behind Johnson.
31
Gatewood climbed up in the national rankings in the 1000m after posting a 2:38 and St. Anthony's posted another sub-8 4x800m.
32
Johnson made the most of his trip to Boston. He was second in the NB Grand Prix mile less than a second behind Dalton Hengst.
33
Oosting moves up into the MileSplit50 with Johnson after finishing right behind him in the mile this weekend. He's also shown impressive consistency over the last three weeks in the mile (4:14, 4:14, 4:11).

Delgado had a good weekend at the 4A State Meet in NC. He won a sit-and-kick race in the 1K, anchored his team to a win in the 4x800m, and showed some speed by dropping down for the 4x400m anchor and comeback win on that relay as well. It's a sick race. Watch it on NC MileSplit (4A State Meet 4x4 Heat 4).

Marche has been up, down, and all over the MileSplit50 since the start. It's an up week for him after winning the NB Grand Prix 60m.

Newton North took down top ranked East Orange in the SMR at NB Grand Prix thanks to a 1:55 800m anchor from Burba. He raced on Sunday in a conference meet, but the results were not yet available while this week's rankings were being updated. He ran a US #2 in the 600m (will be considered for next week's MileSplit50 update).
46
Donnie James was fifth in the 200m at Dunamis.

Randolph Ross had a breakout race a few weeks ago with a sub-49s 400m. He now moves up into the MileSplit50 after showing some versatility with a 6-10 clearance in the high jump.
49
Davonte Burnett has been off the radar this season, quietly running fast times up in MA. He had a top ten time in the 300m and top two in the 55m. This weekend he was second to Kristian Marche in the 60m.
50
I would not have pegged Gilbert as an athlete to make the rankings this season, but he becomes "Mr. 50" for this week. He's had a really impressive progression in the 60H. He started off running 8.20/8.18 in first two meets. He has since been setting PRs every time he touches the track. His biggest performance came this weekend while beating Kyle Garland in the 60H in a US #3 7.84.

EXPLAINING MILESPLIT50:

These are subjective rankings of the top 50 athletes across all indoor track and field events. Feel free to reach out to MileSplit via email (travis.miller@flosports.tv) or on Twitter (@milesplit or @TravisMillerFlo)

Here are the attributes MileSplit considered when ranking athletes (in no particular order):

- IAAF points for ballpark numbers to compare performances across different events

- PRs

- Returning indoor track & field rankings

- Significant wins/results in previous indoor seasons

- More weight on "championship" events (I took stats and performances from ALL events into consideration, but championship events are more important at the national level)

- Participation in relays

- 2018 indoor track & field results

- Indoor competition frequency (these are rankings for indoor track & field, not necessarily the best all around XC/indoor/outdoor athletes)
