Campbell County wins both Division at the Michelle Ludwig in Sheridan led by Jamon Rodrigues (1st) in the boys and Bridget Simmons (2nd), Audra Destefano (3rd), and Abby Phillips (4th) in the Girls. Full Results

Susie and Kim Shumway of 2A Lovell captured 4 individual events and contributed legs to the winning 4x400 relay. Susie  (JR) won the 800, and added a second in the 400 and a third in the HJ, while Freshman Kim won the 200, 400, and 1600.  

Karen Koritnik, a senior at Lovell HS and University of Wyoming signee, was the single athlete to set a record in yesterday's less-than-stellar weather conditions. She set a new Class 2A mark in the LJ with a leap of 17-10.5.  

Gillette senior Paula Andrie capped her HS pole vaulting career by winning her first state title and setting a new class and overall state record at 12-0. She went for 12-7, which would have increased her overall state best by 1 inch over her March 12-6 from the state indoor meet, but missed narrowly on her third attempt. Paula also earned seconds in the long jump, triple jump, and 100H.

University of Wyoming Head Track Coach Don Yentes announced the signing of Lovell High School senior Karen Koritnik, to a track and field scholarship. Karen will be coached at UW by Quincy Howe who is a former Mountain West Conference champion and All-American in the triple jump. Karen holds the 2A West Regional Conference and Lovell High School records in the long jump at 17'8.75". She also holds the LHS school record in the 300m hurdles at a time of 46.31. The Fayetteville-Manlius girls are heavy favorites, while American Fork boys appear to be a very slight favorite in most pre-meet predictions and rankings.     The 7th annual Nike Cross Nationals will be held on Saturday, December 4th, at Portland Meadows on the north side of the city of Portland, Oregon. The meet has served as the unofficial yet virtually legitimate national high school cross country team championships since NXN's inception in 2004. A total of 22 of the nation's best cross country teams representing nine regions across the country will be racing alongside each other on the three loop course inside the horsetrack within the infield area of Portland Meadows.  The 5K course layout has traditionally been muddy and slick footing as a result of the area's regular rainfall. The Nike experience is an unforgettable few days for the athletes and coaches starting with the all-expense paid trip to Oregon as well as plenty of free gear and other perks showered upon them as they arrive on the Nike Campus.

New harriers make rank, while the top of the guys rankings is as tight as ever!  Here comes the post-season!

With 31 High and Middle school teams and over 600 runners this Friday’s Jackalope Invitational in Douglas on this year’s state course promises to be one of the most competitive races of the year. Many teams however have elected to run in Lander on Thursday. Click here for results

Destefano and Morin Take Titles in Gillette Gillette's Audra Destefano lead the Lady Camels to the team title with the win in 20:42. The Camels finish 1-2-6-8-9 for 26 to outdistance NC's 4-5-13-14-20 for 56. Sheridan was third with 67 In the Boys Race Sheridan's Dylan Morin won for the Second week in a row in a time of 16:26. NC took the boys title going  3-4-6-8-9 for 30 over Campbell countys 2-5-10-15-16. Sheridan was third with 59 Complete Wayne Chaney meet results

Natrona's Baillie Gibson and Cody's Alex Gwynn Notched Rare Individual titles at The Simplot Games. Baillie’s Winning chunk of 45-5.75 (#3 US) moves her up the US rankings to 3rd. Gwynn’s pr winning height of 15-6 (#11-US #2 WY) moves him up 11th on the US list but still leaves him number #2 in Wyoming after narrowly missing at 15-10. The Cody vault Squad scored a rare 1-2 with Sophomore Quinn Rivera placing 2nd with a pr jump of 14-6.  (#42 US) Sheridan’s running duo of Lela Carpenter and Dana Morin went 2-3 in the 3200 in 11:19 and 11:25 respectively. Nikki Peterson of Rock Springs rounded out the top 5 in the 3200 running 11:36. In the boys 800 Green Rivers Cody Francom ran1:58.56 for fourth after holding on to second until the final straightaway. Sheridan’s Kody Williams also place 4th in the Long Jump with a leap of 23-0.75   In the relays, Cheyenne Central led the way with the Central Girls repeating as 4x800 meter Champions in 9:47 (#80 US), and 3rd in 1600 meter medley in 4:13.84. Cody’s boys 4x400 relay pr’d big in the finals improving over 9 seconds for 5th in 3:31.21after qualifying in the 12th and final spot in 3:40.25.

Natrona's Taylor Villegas returned to The track with strong wins in the 55 Hurdles 7.65 and LJ 20-11 3/4. Gillette Pole Vaulters Steve Turpin and Paula Andrie continue to dominate half way through the 2010 indoor season. Turpin who’s new PR of 15-6 (#11 US) ranks him 11th (tie) in the country. Andrie raised her PR to 11-9 (#16 US) closing the gap with Cody’s Anna Bales who is sidelined with a stress fracture. Andrie is also the state leader in the Long Jump 18-0.5 (#22 US),  Triple Jump 35-7, and 55 Hurdles in 8.78. Turpin is also the state leader in the 55 hurdles at 7.93. Cody Pole Vaulter Anna Bales raised her PR and State best ever indoor vault to 12”1/2” (#5 US) but was pushed heavily by Paula Andrie who cleared 11-6 for a PR and narrowly missed 12’1/2 this past week at the Stadium Sports Grill Invitational In Spearfish SD. Andrie also excelled in the hurdles (2nd 9.76) and triple jump (1st 35-7). Kody Williams of Sheridan  remained perfect for the year with victories in the 55m in a time of   6.64, the 200m in 23.72  and the long jump at 23-4 (#8 US).Turpin remained undefeated for the season in both the 55 hurdles and the Pole Vault with marks of   7.93 and  14’  respectively.   2nd  and 3rd in the Pole Vault went to Cody Sophomore Quinn Rivera and Bronc Freshman Leighton Blanchard with lifetime best  jumps of 14’ and 12’6”. Sheridan’s distance crew continued its early domination easily winning both  3200 meters with Dylan Morin winning in a time of 9:56and Wyoming’s 2010 Gatorade Cross Country Runner of the Year Dana Morin winning easily in 11:16.   In the Shot Put Natrona’s Ballie Gibson Dominated with a put of 40-8.75 (#15 US). The nerves usually don’t kick in too much for Lizzie Powell.   The senior from Patrick Henry High in Virginia, and a nationally-ranked pole-vaulter, does get a little nervous. She does get that excited anticipation that one normally experiences before competition.   This time, though, it was different. (Lizzie and her sister Annie, a vaulter for UNC Wilmington)

  Cody's Alex Gwynn improved his all time PR to to 15 3 1/2 to achieve a #12US Ranking.Fellow Sr. from Campbell Countie Steve Turpin Vaulted 15in Cheyenne for the second straight week solidifying his 15 foot statues The Camel and Bronc vaulters will meet for the first time this year on January 29 in Spearfish SD at the Stadium Sports Grill Invitational. Anna Bales also from Cody equaled Gwynn’s #12 US ranking with a vault of 11-7 (season best).   .
