Wildcats head to Idaho and Washington this weekend

The Wildcats will split up this weekend with some runners heading to Washington while the others will head back to Idaho.The UW Invitational plays host to one of the fastest tracks in the nation and this weekend's meet will not be any different. Idaho State will host the Mountain State Games and it will be their second trip to Pocatello this season. The last trip resulted in four athletes qualifying for the conference meet.
 
MAKING A GOOD FIRST IMPRESSION
Emily Morgan, a freshman from Vancouver, Washington, opened up her collegaite career with an impressive performance.Morgan's time of 7.75 in the 60 meter-dash is the eighth fastest time in school history.
After running 7.83 in the preliminaries, which was the fastest qualifying time of the day. She blew away the field in the finals beating Michelle Norman of Utah by 0.06 seconds.

BURNING UP THE TRACK
Dustin Durfee, a senior from Grantsville, Utah, opened up his season with a win in the 400-meters at the Snake River Open. Durfee's time of 48.83 seconds, which qualified him for the conference meet, was nearly a second and a half faster than his teammate Isaac Akers. That is currently the third fastest time in the Big Sky Conference.

MAKING HER WAY TO THE TOP
Jazmin Porter, a senior from French Gulch, California, continued her impressive performance in the Wildcat uniform. Porter qualified in both the shot put and weight throw at the Snake River Open. Her mark of 59-05.50 in the weight throw moved her up to second all-time in Wildcat history. She also moved up to fifth in the shot put.

FORMER ALL-AMERICAN HONORED
Former Wildcat, Tiffany Hellstrom was honored at halftime of the men's basketball game this past Thursday. Hellstrom was honored for earning All-American honors last spring in the javelin. Her mark of 158-10.00 earned her 14th place.
Hellstrom finished her career with the third best mark in school history in the javelin. She is also eighth in the discus as well.
