WSU track teams honored for academic success

OGDEN - Weber State's men's and women's track and field teams have both earned academic honors from the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCA). In addition, five Wildcats earned All-Academic individual honors.

Both Wildcat teams were named to the All-Academic Team. The Weber State women's team posted a 3.42 team GPA, which was the best for a university in the state of Utah. The Wildcat women were one of eight teams from the Big Sky that earned the team All-Academic honors. 

Individually, four Wildcats were named to the Division I All-Academic team. Tiffany Hellstrom, Amber Henry Schultz, Jamie Stokes and Taylor Ward all earned the honor. Each carries a 3.79 or better G.P.A.. Hellstrom earned All-American honors in the javelin.

The Wildcat men's squad recorded a team GPA of 3.17 and was one of 116 men's programs that were honored by the USTFCCCA. The 'Cats were one of five teams from the Big Sky to earn the honor and posted the best G.P.A. of any school in the state of Utah.

On the men's side Anthony Gregory earned the individual All-Academic honor, one of 17 athletes from the Big Sky on the team.

To qualify for the USTFCCCA All-Academic Track and Field Team, a student-athlete must have compiled a cumulative grade point averagee of 3.25 or better and must have qualified to compete in the first round of the NCAA Division 1 Champsionships.
