Weber State senior Tiffany Hellstrom has earned a spot in the NCAA Championships. The senior finished 11th overall in the javelin Thursday at the NCAA West Region Championship in Fayetteville, Ark., to earn a spot at the NCAA meet for the first time in her career.

Hellstrom, a native of South Ogden, posted a mark of 156-08 in the event to finish 11th overall, in the meet which included the top 48 athletes in West in each event. The throw was the third best of Hellstrom's career. The top 12 finishers qualified for the NCAA Championships, which will be held June 11-14 in Eugene, Ore.

Two other Wildcats competed at the region meet Thursday but did not advance to the NCAA's. Senior Taylor Ward finished 20th overall in the 10,000 meters with a time of 35:11.49. Ward captured the Big Sky title in the 10K two weeks ago.

Sophomore Jamie Stokes came in 31st overall in the 1,500 meters with a time of 4:25.16.

Three Wildcats competed Friday at the NCAA meet. Jazmin Porter posted a mark of 150-10 to finish 40th in the discus. Jonathan McUne ran a time of 14.69 in the men's 110 meter hurdles to finish 44th overall and freshman Anthony Gregory did not post a height in the high jump.
