MSUB to Host First Track and Field Meet in 30 Years

MSUB Entries

BILLINGS, Mont. – For the first time in 30 years, Montana State University Billings will be hosting a home track and field meet.

The event will be co-hosted by fellow Billings' school Rocky Mountain College, and will take place at the Laurel Sports Complex in Laurel, Mont.

Six schools will compete in the event.  Three schools compete in NCAA Div. II: MSU Billings, Black Hills State University and South Dakota School of Mines and Technology.  Two schools compete in the NAIA: co-host Rocky Mountain College and Dickinson State University.  One school is a junior college and competes in the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA): Gillette College.

"For the first time in about 30 years there will be a university-level track and field meet in the Billings area," Head Coach Dave Coppock said.  "After the cancellation of the Dickinson State meet this week, Rocky Mountain College and MSU Billings decided to co-host a meet.  With a good group of NCAA Div. II and NAIA schools, it should be a competitive meet. Our student-athletes are really excited to compete at a home event after being on the road.  This will be the first home meet since MSU Billings started the NCAA Div. II program in the spring of 2008.

The meet will be held at the Laurel High School Stadium with the field events getting underway at 1:00 p.m. and the track events starting at 2:00 p.m.
